Artificial lighting to compensate the lack of a window!

A window can transform a room. No amount of artificial lighting can compensate for the lack of a window. However, unfortunately, too many workplaces in today’s world are devoid of windows. As a result, workers feel suffocated and simply pine for a few rays of sunshine.

It is understable that it’s often not economical to put windows in every room or cubicle. Makoto Hirahara has come up with a possible solution for this problem : Bright Blind Window Simulator.

The underlying concept is a blind with electroluminescent sheet lights behind it. It is supposed to be fixed in any wall, and Voila! it’d seem as if there is a real window there, complete with sun rays sneaking in through the blinds. Like a real blind, this can be adjusted to brighten the light or make it dim.

This product is still in the inception stage and there is still time for it to come into market. So all we can do now is wait and watch how many takers it finds. It’s also to be found out if anything at all can actually be a substitute for a real “picture perfect” window.
