Chewing Gum Wall: Sticky spot redefined

I have never met a person in my life who hadn’t stuck a chewing gum in an inappropriate spot. Most common spots so far have been under tables and chairs in restaurants, in someone’s hair, on a lamp post, on walls in public loos, and occasionally even on the side of a car! But what would you do if you found a place that actually invited you to stick stale gum? You’d think it’s too good to be true, but guess what? Its not!

Yes ladies and gents, this place known as the Bubblegum Alley in downtown San Luis Obispo, California is known for its accumulation of used bubble gum on the walls of an alley.

Recognized as a local tourist landmark, the 15 foot high and 70 foot long alley is fully lined with used bubble gum left by passers-by and even gummy art created by professional artists as well as special graffiti created by fraternity and sorority members of nearby schools.

A popular myth says that you will experience bad luck if you don’t stick your gum on the wall when passing by it, but I think it’s just a rumor spread by “artists” to keep their “art” from being cleaned up by city officials!
