Gold, silver, diamonds, sapphire etc etc etc â been there, done that! The latest fashion trend takes you in completely the opposite direction â dead bugs. No yuck please, earrings and necklaces made from carcasses of bugs are the latest trend these days. At least this is what is hoped for by Katheryn Maloney and Brady Cullinan from Massachusetts. These two 17-year-old entrepreneurs are selling lacquered remains of cicadas that swarmed their hometown of Sandwich this summer. Some customers are obviously grossed out by these offerings but the others, impressed by the uniqueness on offer, readily hand out $10 bills to get a necklace or earring. Quite a profitable business considering that most of the raw material is just lying around dead, waiting to be picked up. Having already made over 200 bucks from their little venture, they are hoping swarms of customers will continue to be attracted by their weird offerings.
