Woolly mammoth on display in Beijing

Cool factor: Woolly mammoth on exhibition

My take: The woolly mammoth, also called the tundra mammoth, is an extinct species of mammoth. This mammoth species was first recorded in (possibly 150,000 years old) deposits of the second last glaciation in Eurasia.

Featured above, is the first woolly mammoth, named Yukagir that lived around 18,000 years ago, now on display at the Beijing Museum of Natural History. It’s completely preserved in a frozen environment.
