Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company was once the largest manufacturer of bikes in the world. Located in Springfield, Massachusetts, the company was America’s oldest motorcycle brand. In its heydays, the company came up with some of the most- well-known bike models. Scout, Chief, Light Twin, were some of its popular models.

Pictured above is the 1914 model Indian V-Twin. A 1000cc bike with an output of 8 bhp, the Indian V-twin was a model that reminds one of a bicycle. Weighing in at a little under 190 kg, it was capable of hitting speeds up to 90 kmph. This model had a leaf-sprung rear frame, and was even available with an electric starter, but used a dated inlet-over-exhaust valve layout.

It is a reminder of a bygone era, an era of simplicity when speed wasn’t everything.
