DK Ahnâs project Microfactory is about introducing people to domestic manufacturing machines. The idea is to develop new manufacturing methods which will benefit society as a whole. Through his first object in this series, called MOW, people would be able to design, make their own products sitting back home. MOW is a portable tabletop cutting device that can slice through light sheet materials like cardboard, polypropylene and wood under 2mm thick.
The usage is very simple: just download or created a pattern of your choice and send it to MOW via Bluetooth. Controlled by four cables, it would automatically cut the pattern from the material. There is a working prototype made from recycled materials from plotters, and maylines to remote controlled cars.
