GeCube: Tiny laptop, detachable screen; that’s it!

Emulate the success of Asus Eee PC, but for heaven’s sake give us something new to think about. GeCube Genie PC agrees and readily provides us wit a detachable screen on an UMPC. Unfortunately though that seems to be pretty much it. And as for other specs: a 7” screen, 800 X 480 res, 2 GB flash storage, Linux OS and weight that’s less than a kilo.

But as a bit of aberration from its source of inspiration (Eee, ahem!) the GeCube houses its central unit behind its screen. So? So the screen of this PC pops right out and functions as a standalone PC in itself. Again a bit of disappointment coz the screen ain’t a touchscreen but has instead chosen to make things a bit difficult with a trackball that’s installed on its backside. Well, you can only do as much for $450! The GeCube Genie will be made available soon enough and the manufacturers are predicting strong sales. We’ll see soon enough.
