Bicycles are generally not known to be the fastest mode of transportation except in severe traffic jams. But this Sam Whittingham dude has really proved everyone wrong by setting a stunning 82.3 mph world record with his state-of-the-art bike. The bike-builder, from British Columbia, beat his own previous record of 81.02 mph to become fastest cyclist on the planet during a stunning run down Highway 305 just outside Battle Mountain, Nevada. The cyclist, a former member of Canada’s national racing team, used a lustrous teardrop-shaped bike dubbed the Varna Diablo III designed and built by bike designer Georgi Georgiev to take home the $26,748 deciMach Prize for Human-Powered Speed. I don’t know about anyone else, but this exceptionally inspiring story is making me wanna use develop a superhero comic book, if you know what I mean! Watch Sam Whittingham’s record setting run in the uber-cool vid below.
