Cannondale brings the ubiquitous iPod to cycling

Cycling and music go hand in hand, but an iPod on a cycle? Yes, that is precisely what Cannondale have done. They have designed an iPod tweak that will sit on your bicycle and will tell you your speed, distance covered and a few other functions, read that as calories burnt, etc. Not surprisingly, this contraption will run on the power harnessed by the rider even as he pedals along. That obviously means that power needs to be transmitted back from the crank to the iPod. A very nice addition is a rear view camera which is soon becoming a must have with motorists treating bicyclists with absolute disdain. Though all this sounds nice and good, I’m sceptic about a hard disk based iPod on a bicycle. I hope that the blokes at Cannondale make sure that they keep this factor in mind and use the iPod Touch or even the Nano as flash memory will be resistant to all the bumps, ruts and crevices on the road. Is Cannondale listening?
