Ancestree by Patricia Weusten: Keeps track of your ancestors

Patricia Weusten has designed the Ancestree, which got me all emotional, the moment I heard about it. A graduate from the Design Academy Eindhoven, and a specialist in industrial design, her designs are simple in use, shape and color. She came up with an idea to keep track of your ancestors, in a very offbeat manner

Ancestree is a connection system to build a tree of your ancestors. It’s quite similar to the family tree we were taught to draw in school, with dad at the head of it. In Ancestree, each element represents a person with the first one being you. You add new elements, representing the person’s parents and form your own family tree.

Every element comes in the shape of a little box, in which you can fix in any object that is unique to the person. The lid can hold the picture of the person it identifies with. You could put in a hair, ring, note, or any thing you can think of. The Ancestree can keep expanding as you add more elements.
