Some of the most interesting ideas can be conveyed through the medium of sculptures. That was what Michelangelo did a long time ago. Today, sculptors have the advantage of technology at their hands. However, two interesting sculptures lately have been the Swiss Army Horse and the ‘La Siren II’ by John T Unger. La Siren is a mosaic mermaid sculpture in bottle caps and glass. He painstakingly used bottle caps and crimped and nailed them in overlapping scales to create a feeling of depth. For the Swiss Army Horse sculpture he used old strap ratchets, wrenches and a faucet he found in the backyard. Artists like him just prove the fact that technology may sometimes be not so required as they teach at art schools. The horse sculpture sold for $150 and the La Siren II was donated to a private gallery.
