In a world filled with frenzied genetic engineering experiments and man looking to play God at every possible step of the way, I suppose itâs kinda pointless to be surprised at these astonishing square tree barks and chairs and stools that look like they were grown in somebodyâs backyard rather than manufactured in a design studio. Exploring possibilities with bio-manufactured furniture of the future, the designs illustrate how if trees had square trunks, it would lead to less wastage since most things that people make with wood are square!
The brainchild of Belgium-based designers Draw Me a Sheep, the chairs and stools are âupholsteredâ in real tree bark to make a strong case for bio-manufacturing. The designs were presented at 100% Design London, and something tells me that we might just be seeing more of this idea in the future!
